Reclaiming the didactic by tagging, redlining and critiquing the existing conditions of art and the pedestrian political thorofares, the installation lures passersby into an active political debate via site-specific architectural drawings. It is a human scale transformation of urban Refuse Voids (vacant construction sites) into Refuge- (reproductive political action), the City of Today Construction Redline performance capitalizes on the didactic strategies of the Department of Buildings to translate pedestrians into active citizens. Construction site tours are administered between failed site plans (dystopian City of Today drawings), and a nearby gallery space. The viewer takes action on their critique by defiling/grading the pristine drawings with his/her utopian commentaries.
