Raised queer in the rural South and Caribbean, Coralina Rodriguez Meyer is an indigenous-
Latinx-Colombian-American cultural translator who examines the intersections minority identity
and structural violence incise on the body. Living with epilepsy after surviving man made and
natural disasters; she makes art to survive and builds architecture to remember how. Her works propose intimate solutions for urban scale problems such as IUD/IEDs scaled to the Statue of Liberty's uterus, building tampons in S (Liberty), M (Chrysler), L (Empire State), XL (WTC) absorbency, and city flags made from worn-out women's underwear.
After studying painting at Maryland Institute College of Art, she received an Architecture BFA from
Parsons the New School (2004) and an MFA in Combined Media from Hunter College (2013).
Coralina completed research fellowships at Universitat der Kunst Berlin on Nazi Utopian
Masterplanning working with Hito Steyerl (2011), Syracuse Florence studying Italian urban design
(2003) and translating Quipu social structures to Inca urbanism at the Museo de Sitio Machu
Picchu (2012).
She has been awarded grants, fellowships and residencies by Leutz Reidell, Graf
travel grant CUNY, NYFA, VSA Arts, the Kennedy Center, Mildred’s Lane and Bronx Museum.
Coralina has spoken at Hunter College, Parsons and the Brooklyn Museum. She has been
featured in the NY Times, Village Voice, Hyperallergic, Paper Magazine, UK Metro, Time Out NY,
ArtFCity, Nylon Magazine and Jezebel. Coralina’s work has been included in group exhibitions at
the Bronx Museum, Miami Art Museum, the Smithsonian, Miami University Museum, Kunstlerhaus
Brethanien Berlin, NYU Kimmel Center, Bitforms, No Longer Empty, Andrew Edlin, AIR gallery, and
